Mold Remediation

Mold Before Remediation After Mold Remediation by Duraclean
Not only is mold unsightly, but it can be toxic to the inhabitants of your structure. The most effective way to protect against the threat of mold is to have the mold remediated (removed) immediately.

Because mold develops where there is excess water and moisture, it is important to find and control the source of moisture. If the source is not controlled, the mold will continue to return after it has been removed. We utilize Flir thermal imaging cameras to detect the point of water intrusion. These cameras allow us to identify the source of the moisture, which is often behind finished walls and floors. Once identified, we can quickly work to stop the intrusion and take steps to prevent or control the source from causing issues in the future.

We are an IICRC certified firm, which means our technicians are fully trained and educated to remove the mold utilizing proper remediation procedures following the IICRC S520 mold remediation guidelines. If these guidelines are not followed, spores can spread and contaminate previously unaffected areas.

It is extremely important that you have a professional that is trained and experienced in mold remediation assist you in the removal of mold since it is such a complex process. If not done correctly, the threat of mold contamination and health risks continue. In order for mold remediation to be completed safely and successfully, our technicians follow these procedures:

  • Construct the containment area. All technicians must wear full PPE (personal protective equipment) at all times when working in the containment area.
  • Create negative air pressure.
  • Utilize HEPA filtration air scrubbing equipment to improve the air quality.
  • Hand sand or soda blast all affected areas.
  • HEPA vacuum all affected areas.
  • Encapsulate all affected surfaces with antimicrobial biocide.

Mold is very dangerous and should only be removed by certified technicians.

Preventing and Controlling Mold

The most common solution to water/moisture intrusion and high relative humidity is basement and crawlspace waterproofing. Effective methods of controlling the source include installing properly sized pumps, installing interior drainage/French drain systems, repairing foundation cracks or installing dehumidification systems.

Our partner division, Sidro Waterproofing, provides complementary services including waterproofing, sump pump and interior drainage system installations, dehumidification system installations and foundation repair. By partnering with Sidro Waterproofing, we’re able to identify the source of the water, remove the mold, clean and deodorize the affected areas, rebuild the affected areas if necessary, as well as identify and install the best method for prevention of mold growth. This is all done with one phone call to one contractor which helps to ensure that not only is the job done right, but also done efficiently to get you back into your home or business as quickly as possible.
